Brooks BBQ - Oneonta NY

After some discussion, someone decided that they would like to take a ride to get some BBQ.  While some of you have ridden to Brook BBQ in Oneonta, many of you have not taken a WHIMRG ride down to the area.  I stumbled upon a few new roads and included some old favorites for the ride.  The ride will meet at 9:30 AM on Sunday at the Pilot in Rotterdam near I88 and the Thruway (1128 Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam, NY 12306).  Kick Stands Up at 10:00 AM.  The ride will start west on Route 7 for a short way taking a right over the hill to Mariaville, Florida, and stopping at the Stewarts in Fort Plain.  After a short break the ride will continue down route 80 into Cooperstown for a stop.  The ride will continue on to Brooks BBQ in Oneonta for lunch.  After lunch, the ride will continue on through Davenport, Jefferson, and then up route 30 through the scenic Schoharie Valle returning to the Pilot.  The ride is approximately 165 miles with 4 hours of ride time and 6 to 7 hours of total time.

WHIMRG Group Ride - Bouckville 2022

Since we all belong to a riding club, I am leading a ride to the Fly Creek Cider Mill with a late lunch (about 2:00 PM) at Brook BBQ in Oneonta, New York. At this point Saturday’s weather looks to be a great day on the bike.

We will be leaving from the Stewarts on Route 5 across from the 5246 Amsterdam Rd, Schenectady, NY at 10:00 AM with kickstands up at 10:30 AM. This Stewarts is across Route 5 from Lock 9 Rotterdam Junction. Below you can see the map meandering over to Fort Plain for the first stop. From Fort Plain, we will follow Route 80 down to Route 20. We will head west a short ways on Route 20 until we find some roads that will head south through the Fly Creek Valley to the Fly Creek Cider Mill for a stop. The Mill of coarse has cider and apples, but also many other products under the roof. Once we leave the Fly Creek Cider Mill, we will be heading over some hills and valleys to arrive for lunch at Brooks BBQ at approximately 2:00 PM. After lunch, we will head toward Davenport and Jefferson eventually intersecting Route 30 to head north with another stop in Middleburg at the Stewarts. Heading further north until we intersect with Route 7 to head further east to end the ride at the Pilot on Route 7 near where I88 intersects with the New York State Thruway.

WHIMRG Group Ride to Daryl’s House Restaurant and Music Club

WHIMRG Group Ride to Daryl’s House Restaurant and Music Club

Ride and Destination Details: It is approximately 124mi one way, 2h 9m per google. The ride will go down 87 to 787 to I-90 to the Taconic Parkway. I will probably throw in a quick stop on the way for a splash and go of gas if needed and a quick cup of coffee. The goal is to arrive at the restaurant by 1230pm. After dinner we will return as a group, with a stop for Ice Cream somewhere along the way. The goal is to be back in the Albany/Saratoga area by 5pm. NOTE: There will be tolls along the way, bring your EZ-Pass if you have one.

A quick note about the destination: The restaurant is owned by Daryl Hall from the musical group Hall and Oates who dominated the Billboard Charts from the mid-1970s through the late 1980. “The concept was born with Daryl Hall and his television show "Live From Daryl's House" where he invited his favorite musicians to his home in upstate New York for an afternoon of music and great food. Daryl's House Restaurant and Music Club looks to continue this tradition by combining top-notch food with amazing artists. Enjoy! While there is no guarantee that Mr. Hall will be there himself he is known to drop in from time to time.

Due to the nature of the destination I would like to give them a heads up on how many are coming so they are not surprised by our arrival and can accommodate us with no issues. If you could please RSVP by Wednesday July 13th so that I can communicate with the restaurant Reach out with any questions.
